Southern Water Emergency Repairs - Canterbury Road

Emergency repairs to a burst sewer main on the east bound lane on Canterbury Road, Westgate-On-Sea CT8 started yesterday 5th June at 7pm drivers were re-routed. Unfortunately it is a long diversion of approximately 12 miles. There will be a closure of a short section of the road Eastbound toward Margate for the repairs to be completed.

Southern Water apologise for the disruption this causes residents and road users but the burst has caused damage to the road surface. It is creating a health and safety hazard and without severe action, damage would be caused to the carriageway.

Southern Waters permit for the diversion expires on Friday 16 June, however, it is hoped the repairs will be completed much quicker and the closure can be lifted ahead of time.
